Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has been confirmed by Activision today in a press release.  After rumors popped up multiple times in recent days, the game has been not only confirmed but has a release date of October 12th, 2018 on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
Not much about the game was mentioned in the announcement, but Activision says the game will “revolutionize the top-selling series.”
The most odd thing about the announcement is that Call of Duty is seemingly moving up an entire month on the release schedule. For years, Call of Duty has been releasing like clockwork in the early parts of November.  Something has prompted Activision to release the game a month earlier this year.
An early October release date would put Black Ops 4 out ahead of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 and EA’s Battlefield V.
A teaser trailer was released today alongside the announcement, but don’t expect to garner too much from it. You can see it below:
