Treyarch revealed in full the mysterious mode that was rumored to be arriving in Week 2 of the Black Ops 4 Beta. That mode is something entirely different that Treyarch is calling Heist. Dan Bunting and other developers at Treyarch discussed the new mode that has players fighting over a bag of cash hoping to get it to extraction.
The new mode is going to take some much different gameplay ideas than traditional Call of Duty multiplayer, according to Bunting. Treyarch says that the mode was inspired by the work that they are doing in Blackout in that Heist Mode has players starting out with nothing and earning everything in their loadouts on a round to round basis. Players will pick up things like ammunition and health on the map and things like weapons, perks, and other bonuses will be purchased with cash you earn from playing.
The game itself is entirely self-contained, according to Treyarch. It’s not about Specialists. There is no create-a-class. You’ll simply need to play the game to earn these items that can help you win the round-based mode.
The first footage of Heist Mode certainly looks to be something entirely different, maybe the most team-oriented mode that we’ve seen in a Call of Duty multiplayer game. It will be available to play during Week 2 of the Black Ops 4 Beta, but if you want to get a sneak peek at the mode before the beta begins, Treyarch will be hosting a livestream tomorrow morning which shows off some more Heist gameplay.
Week 2 of the Black Ops 4 Beta begins August 10th, this time opening up to Xbox One and PC alongside a second go-round for PlayStation 4 players. To get access to the beta on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 you will need to have pre-ordered the game. On PC, anyone with a Battle.net account can try the game after a one-day exclusive window for those did already pre-order the game.
