Bob Ross Is Coming To Smite

by Mike Guarino

We’ve seen some interesting characters come to Smite throughout its lifespan, but this latest one definitely takes the cake for the strangest one yet. It has recently been revealed that the MOBA will be adding the famous painter Bob Ross to its roster, via a new character skin pack.

The announcement was made on the game’s official website, revealing the new content as the Exclusive Bob Ross Sylvanus Skin. “Ride atop a happy little Grover and fling paint at your enemies with the Exclusive Bob Ross Sylvanus Skin. Plus, unlock a Loading Frame that makes all card art appear as a painting and a paint splatter Jump Stamp! Each bundle item was created by the Smite development team in close partnership with Twitch and the Bob Ross estate. This bundle is our tribute to the greatness of Bob Ross – undeniably one of the true Gods of painting.”

Smite has been a game that I come back to pretty regularly, but hearing that they’ve gone and done something like this makes me want to dive back in more than ever. It’s not every day where one gets to take control of the legend himself in a video game, and I can only imagine the hilarity that will follow.

For those who somehow don’t know who Bob Ross is, he hosted the painting show called The Joy of Painting from 1983 to 1994. He’s famous for his incredibly calm demeanor, as well as his urge to always put a giant (and happy) tree in most of his artwork.

The Bob Ross Bundle will be available to download for PC and Mac on May 9th, with the console release taking place on May 16th. It can be purchased for 700 gems in-game or $9.99 on Twitch Commerce and includes the Bob Ross Sylvanus skin, loading frame, and jump stamp.
