Borderlands 2 developer has two new games for Xbox One and PS4

Gearbox Software is working on two new games for the next-generation of consoles. The Borderlands 2 developer has two brand-new IPs for the Xbox One and PS4, but that’s about all the developer wanted to confirm during their PAX Prime panel on day four of the convention.

With Gearbox declaring that these two new games would be “new IP”, that means you can throw out all of their previous work when wondering what their next-gen titles might be. So no, this is not Borderland 3, Duke Nuke’Em, or Brothers in Arms.

One would think that with the success of Borderlands on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, that the developers would be cooking up a next-gen version of that franchise. It’s probably safe to assume that they will revist Borderlands at some time, but it looks like they’ve got other things coming prior to that.

We’ll have to stay tuned to Gearbox in 2014 to find out what these next-gen games might be.
