Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare may be the current game in the Call of Duty series, but there’s still some big things to look forward to in the previous game. Earlier this year Black Ops 3 got the highly-requested mod tools, which allowed fans to essentially create whatever they want and has given the game new life. This was made possible due to the work of developer pcdev, though he’s got more in store coming soon.

He has now taken to Twitter again after being silent for a while, revealing that unranked dedicated server files will be coming to the game in the near future. This will be accompanied by even more mod tool assets, as well as “some other stuff.” The developer did not give an ETA regarding when we could expect to receive these new features, but it seems like it will before the end of the month.

For those who don’t know what getting dedicated servers means, it means that players will be able to host their own games without having to run off of the Activision servers. This allows for much more freedom on the player’s part, as they can essentially host whatever they want. This can obviously lead to some shady creations, but that’s par for the course with these kinds of things.

Despite it being so late in the game’s life cycle, Black Ops 3 still has a dedicated fanbase going. This has been made all the more apparent due to the lackluster sales that have been generated by its follow-up in Infinite Warfare, whose first month sales were actually down around 50% compared to what Black Ops 3 experienced in its first month. Infinite Warfare most recently got the 1.06 update patch, though it largely dealt with bugs and gameplay tweaks. You can check out the complete patch notes by clicking right here.
