Call of Duty is still ridiculously popular.  Despite sharing very little about what’s next for the franchise with Call of Duty: Ghosts, fans are interested about what comes next for the series.  According to analysts, pre-orders for the upcoming shooter are still outpacing everything else, and it looks like Ghosts will once again be the top selling game in 2013.

This holiday season will be a crowded one.  Next-generation consoles, Grand Theft Auto V, Watch Dogs, a new Battlefield game, and a host of other big name franchises will arrive at market.  Though Cowen & Co. believe that Call of Duty: Ghosts will best them all.

According to their research, which is derived from using NPD data and the Amazon best sellers list,  Call of Duty: Ghosts has a healthy lead on all the aforementioned titles.   Grand Theft Auto V seems like the likely candidate to unseat Call of Duty as the sales champion,  it’s actually Watch Dogs that’s running a close second to the shooter.

Neither Activision nor Infinity Ward have even begun to detail the most popular part of Call of Duty: Ghosts.  We’ve seen some tech demos and single player footage from the shooter, but the real draw in its multiplayer component, has yet to be revealed.  Though it doesn’t seem to be prohibiting fans from plunking down their cash for the shooter, multiplayer for Call of Duty: Ghosts should be revealed sometime in August.
