Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 Will Change The Way We Move, ‘RIP Dolphin Dive’

Freeform movement and fast-paced gameplay has been a staple of Treyarch’s history of Call Of Duty titles. Now with the technology available in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 and with all of the history under their belt they are now able to create a more fluid experience in hopes players are able to adapt and string together different actions to create an experience by simply moving around+ the maps.

Players in Black Ops 3 will be able to maneuver all around the maps in new unique ways. A key aspect of this will be a thrust gauge that will take center screen when you are utilizing these moves, from wall running, to side and backward slides and even a thrust jump. Management of the gauge will play an important part in not only being able to traverse the map, but also keeping yourself alive. Afterall, nobody wants to thrust jump across a gap having wasted it on a mistimed leap and dying in the process.

Thrusting and sliding in various directions by simply tapping the slide button has streamlined many movements, while keeping everything on point and the action focused. Players won’t have to worry much about hurdling over objects or crouching under things now as they can utilize thrust to do so.

Wall running is a very interesting mechanic to see in a Call Of Duty game, it can be argued that it feels and looks a lot like the wall running from Titanfall. Players will be vulnerable while thrust jumping and wall running, but it makes crossing gaps and taking enemies by surprise that much easier. Check out some moves in action in our exclusive video below.

All in all, the thrusting has completely changed the way I plan to take on multiplayer in Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3. The ability to chain thrust maneuvers together while traversing the environment in any given map is quite impressive.
