Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is getting a brand new DLC map pack across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The Variety Map Pack will bring four new maps to the remastered version of the game. It will cost $14.99 and arrive on March 21st for PS4, with Xbox One and PC getting the DLC later on.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Variety Map Pack is described as “Re-experience some of the most epic maps in Modern Warfare history, including “Creek,” a wide-open village ravaged by combat where concealment is the difference between life and death; “Broadcast,” an enemy communications building with confined corridors and wide-open parking lots; “Chinatown,” a foggy downtown district, lit by a full moon and the neon glow of the city; and “Killhouse,” a tiny warehouse for maximum close-quarters chaos.”
Fans have been divided by this new announcement, with many feeling that this is a bad move from Activision. Comments seem to be focused on the fact that Modern Warfare Remastered is an older game and was released without all of its maps initially, and then more are being added at a price. There are also still many Call of Duty players who simply do not want to buy Infinite Warfare, which is still a requirement in order to get this remastered game.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered did get a set of free DLC maps, bringing the total back up to its original count and adding in some variation to the map selection. These new maps were originally offered as DLC for the original release, which explains why they’re being offered at a cost now. Still, with a game that is this old many expected either free or discounted maps. We’ll see if this furor sticks long enough to hurt sales of this DLC pack.
