Capcom Has No Current Plans To Bring Monster Hunter XX to the West

Capcom’s decision to release the next main entry of the Monster Hunter series in all platforms except Nintendo consoles is definitely one of the most shocking news from this year’s E3. Now, the Japanese company confirms that they are focusing their efforts exclusively on Monster Hunter: World for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, while they currently have no plans to release Monster Hunter XX, the latest entry for Nintendo consoles, in Western territories.

The information comes from an interview with GameSpot that was needed to clarify later by Capcom via Twitter, where the company posted this message: “Just to clarify: our official response is we have not announced any plans to localize MHXX at this time.”

While Capcom certainly leaves the door open to a future release, it does seem like an announcement will not happen at the very least until they are passed the launch of Monster Hunter: World on early 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, which has been presented as the game that Capcom hopes it will increase the popularity of the brand outside of Japan.

Monster Hunter XX is a new edition of Monster Hunter X, known in the West as Monster Hunter Generations, for 3DS and Nintendo Switch. In contrast, Monster Hunter: World for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, is a huge step forward for the franchise in gameplay and graphics, featuring a complex world full of elements that interact with each other and can be used by the player to create new and unique strategies in every situation, and for the first time it will allow online multiplayer game between fans from Japan and the rest of the world.

Monster Hunter: World will be released worldwide simultaneously for PS4 and Xbox One on early 2018, with a PC release confirmed to come at some point later.
