Attack on Titan is one of the most popular anime and manga series going at the moment. However, its forays into the video game arena have largely been met with universal distaste, or just disinterest. Koei Tecmo, the makers of such classics as Dynasty Warriors, Ninja Gaiden, and Dead or Alive, could be changing that.

Announced today, the game is simply called Attack on Titan for the moment. there are very few details about the game so far. A trailer has been released, which you can see below, but it doesn’t go too much into the gameplay.

It does, however, show a bit of the story, which seems to be completely based off of the manga/anime. Humans live in a walled off city, surrounded by wilderness that is populated by “Titans”. Massive human-like creatures, these seemingly mindless monsters will eat or kill any human they see.

As Eren Yeager you will go against these Titans, trying to kill as many of them as you possibly can. Alongside you are your friends, and your fellow members of the Scout regiment, which is in charge of going beyond the wall to take on the Titans directly, or survey the land outside.

Koei Tecmo has said that Attack on Titan will be an action game, “but not a Warriors game.” Coming from Omega Force, the developer of Dynasty Warriors, this indicates that it might feature the large and heavily populated battlefields that the series is known for, but with a unique twist that makes it stand out.

Attack on Titan is set to release in 2016 for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita.
