Crystal Dynamics has been around for many years and brought us many different games, but over the last decade they have exclusively worked on the Tomb Raider franchise, including the very well regarded reboot series. While this has been their exclusive focus in that time, the developer appears to be hiring a second team for a completely new and original IP.
As discovered by Nirolak on NeoGAF, Crystal Dynamics has a number of new job postings on their website that range from executive producer to lead engineer, so it appears they are literally hiring for just about the entire new team.
These job listings have descriptions that have provided us with some interesting information as well, including that this will be a completely new and original IP. Specifically, this is a snippet from the executive producer position listing.
“Join now to be a Producer on a new team at the formative stages of a new, original AAA blockbuster being built in our Redwood City studio, just south of San Francisco.”
Nirolak also notes that it appears Crystal Dynamics may be utilizing some sort of multiplayer again, with them looking for help in that department, after skipping that entirely in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
This project obviously is going to still be a few years away with them only hiring a team now, but it will definitely be interesting to see what they have planned.
