Some very surprising news surfaced just the other day about the existence of a Darksiders 3, full of details about the game, artwork, and a reveal trailer from the game as well. With all the studio issues the Darksiders series has gone through, it was great to see a return announced, but we figured the grand gameplay reveal would come at E3. However, Gunfire Games and THQ Nordic have decided to get the start early with the first gameplay revealed via a new first look video.
Just like the reveal trailer, this first look video at the gameplay of Darksiders 3 comes exclusively from IGN. The more than 12 minute long gameplay video showcases the protagonist Fury as she takes on a few different environments and enemies. We even see the video end with her taking on a boss battle of sorts as well.
Fury utilizes a whip in battle that seems to move at a slower pace so that you can have more precision with your attacks, though this definitely makes the experience look pretty difficult.
The combat shown in this gameplay video looks very repetitive, but this is just the game in a pre-alpha state, so I wouldn’t put too much stock into that being the case when the game itself comes out. This is mostly just a way of showing the game off in advance. Hopefully this is a case of them not wanting to give away too much about the game this early and we’ll see a lot more in the future reveals.
It’ll be interesting to see if THQ Nordic shows more about Darksiders 3 off at E3 next month or if they just wanted to get some hype surrounding their game in a relatively slow gaming news period ahead of E3, because they know they’re not going to be there. That is something well have to wait and see. In the meantime, make sure to check out the first gameplay video for Darksiders 3 below.
