Until Dawn developer Supermassive Games has been making Sony-exclusive games for years now, starting with LittleBigPlanet DLC for the PlayStation 3. However, despite the great success that they have been enjoying with the company, they will no longer be working with them exclusively.
Supermassive Games’ Director Pete Samuels recently did an interview with MCVUK, where he said the following:
“We’ve worked closely with Sony for as long as the studio has been around, so the past eight years. I’ve loved it, they are great to work with and we have a strong relationship with them. I think a lot of the work we do with them aligns well with what we want to do and where we want to go. But yes, we are an independent studio and we are keen, going forward, to bring our games to wider audiences than we have in the past. That’s what we are all about right now, and it’s an exciting time for us.”
Despite the shift in focus, Supermassive’s next two games will both be PlayStation-exclusive titles. Both of them are for the PlayStation VR, with one being Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and the other being Tumble VR. Neither game has a release date yet, though more information is expected to be revealed during E3.
