Bungie has revealed Year 2 content for Destiny 2, which will kick-off with the release of Forsaken. Revealed today during a livestream, the new content seems focused on giving Destiny 2 players stuff to keep them coming back to the game.
The stream had a couple of big reveals, including an Annual Pass that will stretch Destiny 2’s content into 2019. As rumored, the expansion will take players to the Reef. A location from Destiny 1, there will be completely new area called Tangled Shore. New enemies will populate this location, which will feature eight Barons who’ve escaped the Prison of Elders. The DLC will be focused on the Awoken.
Revealed in the livestream were new super powers for Guardians. The Warlock, Hunter, and Titan classes will get new abilities to choose from in the Forsaken expansion. Bungie did seem to focus down on one new weapon-type in particular for the upcoming expansion and that was the introduction of a new bow.
Forsaken will also feature a new multiplayer mode that blends PvE and PvP content with Gambit. This new mode has teams that face-off to do battle against computer controlled opponents and each other. Not all of the rules were revealed but from what was seen in the video it’s something entirely different from any of the multiplayer options that Crucible offers currently. The mode will be played four versus four.
With many months to go little was said about the new raid but the location was shown in the reveal. The Dreaming City, which is new location for the Raid, is described by Bungie as a cross between Vault of Glass and Dreadnought. Bungie teases that this new Raid will be evolving over time, and that the Raid you see at launch will not stay be a static environment.
Destiny 2: Forsaken is due out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on September 4th.
