Bungie has begun to outline the future for Destiny 2 and how it plans to keep players engaged in the game going forward, and one of those ways is by giving them new ways to earn unique gear using a new form of Exotic Engram called a “Fated Engram”.

Each week, Destiny 2 players will be able to acquire one of these Fated Engrams using Legendary Shards.  These will always decrypt as Exotic Weapons or Armor that you do not already own.  Bungie says that this will be one of the ways that players will be able to complete their collections of Exotic Weapons and Armor in Destiny 2.

Alongside Fated Engrams, Bungie is re-introducing the Three of Coins consumable that boosts Exotic drop rates from any source in the game, and it will last for 4 hours.  Bungie claims that this will not require stacking to be more effective, nor will you need to re-apply the item before boss fights to boost the drop rate.  Like the Fated Engram, the new Three of Coins can be purchased with Legendary Shards and you can purchase as many of these as you want.

While Bungie has removed some of the mystery regarding Xur, these new features should have players visiting the vendor when he makes his weekly trip to the game.  For more information about where you can find Xur and what time he arrives in Destiny 2 head here for our Xur Guide.
