It’s Bungie Day today, so it is time to learn more about their upcoming sci-fi shooter Destiny. Bungie has always been known for making excellent Collector’s Editions of their games, from Halo 2’s steelbook release, to Halo 3’s Spartan helmet. Destiny looks to be following this trend with a few Collector’s Editions that look very impressive.

First up is the Destiny Limited Edition, which will cost $99.99 and include the following:

  •       Limited Edition SteelBook Case and Game Disc
  •       Guardian Folio, containing:
    • “Arms and Armament” Field Guide: Many believe the weapons and armor featured in this record are a myth. You will learn the truth.
    • Postcards from the Golden Age: Our worlds have been claimed by our enemies. Now, it’s time to take them back.
    • Antique Star Chart: Explore the wild frontiers of our solar system. Discover all that we have lost.
  • Collector’s Edition Digital Content: The City has provided you with a cache of items to start you on your journey, including:

The final physical Collector’s Edition is the Destiny Ghost Edition which costs $149.99 and comes with a special replica of the Ghost assistant from the game. It lights up, and plays sounds from Destiny, so if you’re a crazy collector this is the set for you. The entire feature list for Destiny Ghost Edition is:

  •  Limited Edition SteelBook Case and Game Disc
  •  Ghost Replica: This is your motion-sensing Ghost, featuring lights and audio from the game. May it lead you through the Darkness.
  •  Letter of Introduction: These worlds were once ours. If you accept your destiny, you will be asked to do the impossible.
  •  Golden Age Relics, which include a Patch, Sticker and two Chrome slides of the Traveler (was previously missing from the description)
  •  Collector’s Edition Digital Content: The City has also provided you with a cache of items to start you on your journey, including:

If you prefer buying your games digitally then Bungie still has you covered with the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition. This version of the game will retail for $89.99 and comes with:

  • Digital Download of Destiny
  •  Early access to Vanguard Armory and Player Emblem pre-order bonus
  •  Reservation for two upcoming Destiny Expansions, “The Dark Below” and “House of Wolves,” featuring:
    • Brand-new story missions
    • Cooperative and competitive multiplayer arenas
    • A wealth of all-new weapons, armor, and gear to earn
  •  Collector’s Edition Digital Content Pack: Exclusive in-game Ghost Casing, Player Ship, and Player Emblem
  •  Includes the Destiny Expansion Pass*

If you’ve noticed, each of these games comes with the Destiny Expansion Pass. This pass would normally cost $34.99 and gives you access to two expansion packs that will come after the initial release of the game. “In Destiny Expansion I: The Dark Below, you’ll discover an ancient tomb has been unsealed. Beneath the surface of the Moon, a dark god has answered centuries of prayer, and a dark army has risen. Explore the true depths of the Hellmouth. Stop the dark Hive ritual and survive.” No details were given for Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves.

Continuing the close connection that Destiny has had with Sony, Playstation platforms will be given “additional exclusive content” for both Expansions. This content will remain exclusive to PS3 and PS4 until “at least Fall of 2015”. No matter what version of Destiny you pre-order, you will gain favor with the Vanguard Quartermaster in the Tower. What this means exactly is unclear at this time, but apparently this will give you a head start against other players.

Destiny will be released on September 9th 2014 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. A beta is set to start on July 17th for Playstation and July 23rd for Xbox.
