In 2017, former professional Super Smash Bros. player Dan Salvato introduced the world to his own original video game, Doki Doki Literature Club! The visual novel, which satirizes dating sim tropes, gained massive popularity, eventually reaching over two million downloads. As with any popular work, fans have been asking Salvato when they can expect his next project, and whether it will be related in some way to Doki Doki Literature Club!
Recently, Salvato took to Twitter to give his fans a very general idea of what his game-developing life looks like right now. And when I say he gives “a very general idea,” I mean VERY general; don’t expect any hard details here. In the tweet, Salvato mentions that he is currently working on two projects. One is in fact related to Doki Doki Literature Club!, but Salvato is sure to explain that it is NOT a full sequel to the original game, but rather is “additional DDLC content” that “will appear in some way.” More information about this additional content will be revealed later this year.
Salvato is also working on a completely new visual novel, but states that it is “a long time away.” He is currently in the process of rewriting the script and explains that there won’t be any more information about this project for the rest of the year.
