Driveclub Doesn’t Impress Japanese Gamers

Driveclub debuted last week in many countries, however it appears the game didn’t really impress Japanese gamers.

As reported by DualShockers, major Japanese retailer Tsutaya has revealed a chart of the top 20 best selling games over the past week. Driveclub only managed to debut at number 12. The game didn’t even manage to sneak into the top 10.

There is a good reason for this. This is mainly because Driveclub has 50 cars in the game, with virtually none of them being from Japan. Not to mention the tracks are not set in Japan either. The only countries featured in the tracks are Chile, India, Norway, Canada and Scotland.

Another reason could be because Driveclub is made by Evolution Studios in the UK. Japanese gamers usually love to buy hardware and software made in Japan. The Gran Turismo series usually sell well because it features tons of Japanese cars and it’s Japan made.

Evolution Studios didn’t rule out adding Japanese cars to Driveclub as DLC, but this has yet to be confirmed. The studio also hinted a new location will be added to the game next year as well. Again, no official announcement has been made but it would be cool if the location is set in Japan.
