E3 2015: Shenmue 3 Has Been Successfully Funded On Kickstarter

by Damian Seeto

Just around 9 hours have gone, but Shenmue 3 has been successfully funded on Kickstarter.

Shenmue 3 needed $2 million to be funded and it has now reached that goal. If you look at Kickstarter now, the game is over the $2 million mark.

Shenmue 3 was announced at E3 2015 and broke the internet the same way Final Fantasy 7 did for its remake. You can put The Last Guardian in the same category too.

It only took around 9 hours for one of the most beloved franchises to receive a sequel. Luckily Kickstarter exists, or else Shenmue 3 may have never been possible.

I say 9 hours when in reality, it took over 14 years when you really think about it. Maybe the franchise got more popular the longer the years went by.

In either case, it’s great to see that Shenmue 3 will be made. There are over 31 more days to go for the funding to stop. There is no limit to hell much money it could earn.

Hopefully the game can earn more money than the $8 million that Ouya received. Seriously, who decided to pour money to that?

Shenmue 3 obviously has no release date yet. It will be released eventually for PS4 and PC. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait another 14 years…
