Ultra Ultra is a studio that’s comprised of developers from IO Interactive, the studio that brought you the Hitman series over the years. This new team has had a game in the works for quite some time in ECHO, and it’s finally got a release date.

The third-person science fiction title is slated to arrive on PlayStation 4 and PC on September 19th. Alongside the announcement of the release date for ECHO, a new trailer has been released that gives a little bit more insight on the game, and it’s unsuprisingly looking like it draws at least some inspiration from the Hitman series albeit in a much different scenario.

In ECHO players take the role of En, who must navigate an alien palace guarded by replicants of the main character. The gameplay sounds like the stealth action of the Hitman games with a big twist. Here’s the official description from Ultra Ultra.

“The Palace creates ‘Echoes’, with the sole purpose of destroying you. The game will shift and change as you do, constantly evolving its Echoes based your actions – If you sneak, they will get stealthier. If you shoot, they will start to shoot back.

Your only respite lies in the sanctuary of a Blackout. As The Palace shuts down in order to update its deadly copies of En, you have a small window of opportunity to act without consequence. But beware, when The Palace comes back online, your pursuers will now be even more relentless.”
