The Evil Within Has Gone Gold Ahead of October Release

Bethesda has announced that their upcoming survival-horror game The Evil Within has gone gold. In layman’s terms this means that development on the title, aside from updates and patches, has been completed and actual discs are being manufactured at this time. The Evil Within has been highly anticipated due to it coming from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and looking like a true return to form for the survival-horror genre that he helped create. The game will launch on October 14th for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.

The Evil Within had a couple of delays on its way to going gold. The game was originally scheduled for an August release, which was moved to October and then moved up a week recently. With the game going gold more than two weeks ahead of launch it looks like it will easily make its current release date without any worry.

Bethesda’s entire press release is contained below for reference:

Putting out a game on five platforms (PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4) across multiple regions is no easy feat, but we’re excited to announce The Evil Within has officially “Gone Gold”!
Congrats to everyone at Tango Gameworks and everyone else that was involved in the process of making the game — your hard work has helped create a survival horror game that we believe people will be talking about for a long time.

If you’ve been cowering under your covers up until now, The Evil Within arrives on Tuesday, October 14th in Europe and North America, October 16th for New Zealand and Australia, and October 23rd for Japan.

Stay tuned for more updates on The Evil Within, including a new video and feature tomorrow focused on survival tactics.
