Exotic Items Will Carry Over and Retain Abilities in The Taken King

Recommended Videos

The Taken King will feature a number of Exotic items that carry over from year one to year two.  Players will be able to take items that they’ve earned in Destiny so far, and then use them immediately, with many of their important qualities intact.

While many of the Exotic armors in Destiny have specific features that must be leveled to to access, these will available immediately and new features will be added to old Exotics.

Bungie says the philosophy here is to allow players to use their existing items from year to year without the need to re-level them.  A new leveling system will be added for older Exotics that in some cases will add new abilities to earn through leveling up the weapon or armor.

An Exotic blueprint kiosk will also allow Destiny players to copy weapons and use them on multiple characters.   Players will no longer need to visit their vault to swap weapons between characters.
