Bethesda has now made it clear that Fallout 4 has zero chance of being released for the older PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

When the first rumors of Fallout 4 started to spread, people speculated that PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game were being made. Alas, the first trailer for the game only revealed it will be out for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One platforms.

Bethesda has now made it crystal clear that Fallout 4 will not come out on PS3 and Xbox 360. Bethesda’s community manager, Matt Grandstaff, noted on NeoGAF: “It is not coming to 360 and PS3, the stuff we’re doing will never work there“.

Fallout 4 looks like it will be much larger and more expansive than Fallout 3 and New Vegas. This is a reason why The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt wasn’t released on PS3 and Xbox 360 either. The game’s world was too big for the older console generation to handle.

There is still no official confirmation on the release date for Fallout 4. Most retailers are speculating a 2015 release date. The most accurate guess so far has been Gamestop Italy as they feel an October 2015 release could be likely.

It’s possible we won’t know the real release date for Fallout 4 until E3 2015 starts next week.
