Sure, it’s easy to annoint a new king when the new and ultra sexy Ipad has been selling like hot cakes. Ipad sales were announced that 2 million of the touch screen wonders were sold in just under 2 months time and some think this may be a problem for Nintendo in the not so distant future. Masato Kato, the writer of such titles Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Trigger, made comments about Nintendos upcoming demise.

“With the iPad going on sale, the epoch of Nintendo is finished. But with the DS and the Wii, it’s been digging its own grave.” – Kato

With the Playstation Move, Microsoft Natal, and Apple Ipad all looking to grab a little bit of market share from industry leader, Nintendo, it certainly doesn’t look like it’s easy being #1.  These comments come on the heels of a “disappointing fiscal year” for Nintendo.  Between the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS lines they only sold 70 million units, however profits decreased over 18% in the same time period one year ago.
