Final Fantasy XV players are able to preview the game’s new multiplayer mode thanks to the closed beta that is available this week. Additionally, Square Enix has announced that it’s improving the stability of the program for its final days, while also setting the date for the next beta, taking place on the following weekend.

The beta for ‘Comrades,’ as the multiplayer mode is known, seems to be garnering lots of positive impressions about its gameplay, with most criticism focusing on technical issues such as connectivity and matchmaking. This last aspect is precisely the one that the company highlighted when announcing on Twitter the improvements coming next week. But with the beta only running until Tuesday, it’s logical that Square Enix would like to make another run with all the technical aspects figured out.

The multiplayer mode lets players create their own avatars and join other fans to complete missions over the world of Eos. Battle mechanics seem to have a few differences with the gameplay of the main game, with fans especially praising the new magic system. And while we’ll not discuss the story details of Comrades to prevent spoilers, we’ll just say that it explores new aspects of the plot, something which has been received very positively by the fans.

The current beta for Comrades is available now and will run through Tuesday, August 8. The new beta will run from August 11 to August 13. In order to play the beta you need to have purchased Final Fantasy XV and the season pass, and having a subscription to PlayStation Plus or an Xbox Live Gold membership.
