Patch 2.2.0 is currently being developed for Diablo 3 on PC and will soon to be released for players on the PTR (Public Test Realm) servers. The patch looks to add new Legendary sets, additions to adventure mode, and more.
In the most recent blog post on Blizzard’s Diablo 3 page, they talk about the upcoming patch and stress that it is still being created and is subject to change. The new patch will add three new goblins to the mix, The Gelatinous Sire, Gilded Baron, and the Insufferable Miscreant all with their own unique features. A few Legendary sets will be added and even reworked; Zunimassa’s Haunt, Raiment of a Thousand Storms, Roland’s Legacy, Tal Rasha’s Elements, Inna’s Mantra, Natalya’s Vengeance, and Immortal King’s Call. Legendary looks to get a lot of additions, including new legendary item powers added to rings, armor, gems and more, including updating existing items. Patch 2.2.0 also looks to add over twenty new bounties to adventure mode to Diablo 3.
Rift fans will be seeing new rift layouts in the new patch to rework some of the larger maps, this will completely randomize these maps and add more diversity. For the first time in Diablo history, the game will now be using a new file format once the patch goes into place. Previously all Blizzard titles have used Mo’PaQ (MPQ) filetype but they will transition into a Content Addressable Storage Container (CASC) filetype, which is a proprietary type that will add it’s own improvements to the game.
These are just a few of the changes planned in the patch. Also mentioned is a retooled cosmetics window, and in an interesting change of pace, Blizzard has said this patch will not focus heavily on class changes to Diablo 3. They did maintain that it is an ongoing endeavor and the final patch may include small tweaks to classes though. Check out the full list of upcoming features so far at the Diablo 3 blog. Look out for this one to be coming to a PTR near you.
