Hidetaka Miyazaki is a busy man. Having overseen the release of Bloodborne earlier this year, he’s now focused on co-directing the upcoming Dark Souls III.
In an interview with GameSpot, Miyazaki stated that Dark Souls III will mark a turning point for the franchise.
“Dark Souls is my life’s work. Everything I came up with for Dark Souls III is based on my personal preferences. However, Dark Souls III is also actually the turning point for the franchise.”
“I do want to work on something new.”
“I do want to work on something new,” he added. “I’m pleased to hear people are interested in seeing that.”
It’s worth noting that FromSoftware are also known for creating the Armored Core franchise, as well as ninja games. With Dark Souls III set to mark the fourth Souls game that adopts a fantasy setting, a Souls game with robots or ninjas would make for an interesting and exciting change. Bloodborne, which sported a gothic aesthetic, released earlier this year to high praise.
Dark Souls III will mark the conclusion of one of gaming’s most beloved series, and you can pick it up for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in early 2016.
