A rumor has been recently circulating about Gears of War 4 that seemingly pegged a release date and other details to Black Tusk’s Xbox One shooter. While the rumors did make their way to social channels, it turns out that they’ve been shot down by Rod Fergusson who’s leading development on the next Gears Game.
The rumors claimed that Gears of War 4 would be arriving in early 2015, claimed that the game would be 1080p and 60fps, among other “details”.
Fergusson shot down the rumors fairly quickly, but didn’t shed any light on the subject. Gears fans have been patietly waiting for news on the upcoming Xbox One title, and with convention season winding down, it’s looking less likely that details will be readily available anytime soon.
It’s been all teases so far for Gears of War fans. Back in May, Fergusson teased a very blurry image of the game, where he revealed that Gears of War 4 was very much in the early prototype and conceptual stage. That alone might have given a clue as to whether an early 2015 release date would have been feasible or not.
More recently, Xbox exec Aaron Greenberg wrote of his recent trip to the studio, claiming he was “very impressed” with what he saw at Black Tusk.
We still don’t know when Gears of War will arrive on Xbox One, the setting, characters, or any details for that matter.
