Polyphony has just released the latest patchwork for Gran Turismo 5, and one feature that many players have asked for has been included: Online Mechanical Damage.

The patch isn’t small however, at 150 MB plus the newest Sony firmware upgrade, this install might set you back a few minutes.  Users have begun to chime in on the new patch, and have reported that it is indeed only for online play at this time.

But the patch gives you some freedom in customizing online games with no damage, light damage, or heavy damage for races.  Rendering your car useless unless you can get over for a pit stop.    So get out there and drop your engine block like the fool you are, crazy backwards driver guy.

While your at it, I hope you break an axle too.
