Apparently Sony is readying the release of Gran Turismo 6 for later this year. According to Michael Denny, the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe executive listed the unannounced racer as one of the strong lineup of games due to arrive in 2013 from the company.
In a recent interview, Denny explained to Silicon Republic: “Look at the games coming out on the PlayStation 3 like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, GT6, and the on the third-party side of things another fantastic Assassin’s Creed, GTA…”
Was it an accidential slip of the toungue by Denny? Sony has yet to give any official details about the racer, and many would expect a new Gran Turismo to arrive on the PlayStation 4 if anywhere. One of the best selling racers for Sony could be a strong release for a next-gen console, and given the lengthy development process that GT5 had and the impending release of the PS4, it would be odd timing indeed.
Perhaps we’ll hear more about what Kazunori Yamauchi and Polyphony Digital are up to at E3 2013 in June.
