The Facebook Connect event revealed important news for the Grand Theft Auto franchise, specifically GTA San Andreas. As with any Facebook event, there was a lot of information spiralling out from the woodwork of future advancements for the company as a whole, from the Facebook company rebranding to ‘Meta’, to new avenues for technological advancements. The same was true in the gaming segment of the show with plenty of information to be garnered about what Facebook’s plans are for the Oculus Quest 2. GTA San Andreas VR was revealed in the event and has set gamers into a frenzy of excitement for the return of the game to be experienced in a unique and interesting format.

Rockstar Games has informed the public that the project was many years in the making, which means that the production may have run alongside the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the GTA Trilogy. Players will be able to witness Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas through the lens of VR for the very first time and this will be an experience that fans of the series will want to get their hands on as soon as possible.

There has been no information on the main release date of GTA San Andreas VR but it is likely that we will hear more information on the game soon by Rockstar Games, perhaps even a trailer may be released for it. Within the event itself and outwith, there was no mention of a price either. We can only begin to speculate is sitting close to around a full-price release for the game which would make sense due to the technical scope of the title being ported for the VR.

This wasn’t the only piece of gaming news in the Facebook Connect event, there was further mention that Beat Saber will be receiving a fourth free update to the original soundtrack of the title and also will include downloadable packs from artists such as Billie Eilish, Skrillex, and even more.

In terms of GTA San Andreas VR, there is no indication of how long we all may be waiting for the release of the title, it is likely that the GTA Trilogy will release first before the VR version of San Andreas but this is only speculation at the moment.

Are you excited about the announcement of the latest experience from Rockstar Games?

GTA San Andreas VR will be available for the Oculus Quest 2 when the game releases.
