343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor has spoken out that Halo: The Master Chief Collection was a “black eye”. He promises Halo 5: Guardians will not suffer the same problems.
O’Connor had a few things to say about both Halo 5: Guardians and Halo: The Master Chief Collection during an interview with Xbox Achievements.
First off, he said Halo: The Master Chief Collection was “a black eye for us“. O’Connor said they are not going to “hide from the mistakes we made“. He did say the game was a mammoth task as it included five different game engines and five different game studios working on it. He said the “complexity was huge“.
The main problem that plagued Halo: The Master Chief Collection was its online play. 343 Industries is working really hard to ensure not to repeat the same mistakes with Halo 5: Guardians. They’re confident the game should be problem free at launch.
O’Connor said Halo 5: Guardians is easier to develop as it’s being made by a “completely different team” and it’s a “singular product“. He also said the game is being built from the ground up for the next Xbox One technology. Halo 5: Guardians’ beta was a step in the right direction he said.
Halo 5: Guardians releases exclusively for the Xbox One on October 27th, 2015.
