Genshin Impact developer miHoYo took its fans by surprise by revealing that their mega-hit Honkai Impact 3rd is coming to Steam. The reveal came a few days after the developer announced their new turn-based game Honkai: Star Rail, which looks to be a spin-off directly related to the story of Honkai Impact 3rd, in special to that of its Post-Houkai Odyssey storyline and that of its Alien Space manga series.
Honkai Impact 3rd was first released in China in 2016 and was later released worldwide in 2018. In the game, players can take on the role of many characters, or Valkyries, as they must fight to stop the Honkai from taking over the planet and erasing all the life in it. The game is heavily inspired by many acclaimed manga and anime series such as Neon Genesis Evangelion, among others.
According to the game’s newly added Steam page, the title will be released on the platform later this month. This means that taking into account the time frame, the game can debut on Steam on the same day as its version 5.2, scheduled to be released on October 21st, releases. You can check out the trailer for Honkai Impact 3rd version 5.2 ”Infinite Future” below:
Aside from the release of the game on the new platform, the SEA server of Honkai Impact 3rd will be celebrating its 4th anniversary during the upcoming version. The celebration will allow players to get not only a free S Rank Valkyre, which can either be Fallen Rosemary, Argent Knight: Artemis, or Vermilion Knight: Eclipse, but also a large sum of Supply Cards, Crystals, and other rewards. Since miHoYo has not revealed if the rewards will be exclusive to the SEA region or not, it is still unknown if the global version of the title will be receiving them as well, even if its anniversary is scheduled to take place in March 2022.
With the announcement, many fans also started to question if the game’s arrival on Steam is in fact a signal that miHoYo’s other games, such as Genshin Impact may also be coming to Steam. Currently, players can play Genshin Impact on PC by downloading the game on its official site or in the Epic Games Store. The announcement of Honkai’s arrival also increases the chances that Honkai: Star Rail will be available on Steam on launch day.
You can play Honkai Impact right now on PC, via miHoYo’s official launcher, and on mobile devices. Genshin Impact can also be played right now on PC, PS4, PS5, and on mobile devices.
