Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the many great games that have already released for PlayStation 4 this year, and it also has the sales to back it up. The game has been available for a couple of weeks now, and in that time it has sold over 2 million copies worldwide.
It has been revealed that the latest game from developer Guerrilla Games has sold 2.6 million units worldwide since its launch on February 28th, with Sony confirming that this is the best-selling new first party IP launch for the PlayStation 4. Also, it was developer Guerrilla Games’ biggest debut ever, who had previously only worked on the Killzone games with Sony. The sales numbers include both retails sales and digital sales through the PlayStation Store.
Guerrilla’s Hermen Hulst said “We’re thrilled that Horizon Zero Dawn has been embraced by critics and players alike. Developing the game was a labor of love, so it’s extremely satisfying to see that it elicits the same passion and enthusiasm from the gaming public that we felt during its development.”
Fans of the game will be happy to know that there’s a lot more to come from the developer and the Horizon: Zero Dawn World, with Hulst saying that the team is “already hard at work on an expansion to the story.”
The game most recently received a patch that addresses several bugs that were present in some of the game’s main and side quests. These included things like objectives not updating, NPCs not spawning and more. You can check out the complete patch notes by clicking right here.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is available exclusively for PlayStation 4. We loved the game when we reviewed it last month, giving it 4.5/5 stars in our review. No news has been released on when this story expansion may release, but more information is expected to be coming soon.
