The co-founders of ID Software, John Romero and Adrian Carmack, have teamed up for a Kickstarter project that is for a new FPS called Blackroom. Being the brainchild of two people responsible for making the FPS genre what it is today, Blackroom is aiming to hearken back to the FPS classics of the past with a heavy emphasis on combat and speed. The Kickstarter page described the game as the following:

“Blackroom is the FPS you have been waiting for: a return to fast, violent and masterful play on the PC. In Blackroom, you reign supreme in a variety of multiplayer modes, including co-op, 1-on-1 deathmatch and free-for-all arena in a motley mix of locations including hardcore military sims, hellish infernos and interstellar space. If you prefer a single-player experience, delve into an intense 10+ hour campaign, spanning wildly varied environments, from ruined Victorian mansions to Wild West ghost towns to treacherous pirate galleons and beyond.”

Romero also talks about how great it is to reunite with Carmack, saying “It is incredible to work with Adrian again. We’re developing exactly the type of game we think a lot of shooter fans want. It’s the type of shooter we’re known for, and the type of game we love to play ourselves. It’s a skillful shooter, from movement to weapon and map mastery.”

As for the Kickstarter campaign, it is shooting for a goal of $700,000 with 32 days left to go. If you’re interested in backing the campaign you can do so by clicking right here. The game is currently slated for a PC release in the Winter of 2018.
