Square Enix Celebrates Kingdom Hearts with Memorial Clock

Kingdom Hearts Stained Glass Clock Memorial

Square Enix is celebrating 15 years of Kingdom Hearts by putting up a “Memorial Stained Glass Clock” featuring characters from the series at the Tokyo Metro Marunouchisen Shinjuku Station Metro Promenade.

Fans will be able to check out the Kingdom Hearts stained glass clock from January 9 to January 15. Joining the main stained glass are twelve smaller works that surround the centerpiece and serve as the numbers for the clock face. These additional fixtures focus on several of the franchise’s other characters through the years such as Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Aqua, and even King Mickey himself.

Next to the memorial is a large vertical display showing off a flashback video containing iconic and memorable scenes from the series. The display will also feature a countdown to the Japanese release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue this January.

But the celebration doesn’t end there. Once the campaign has finished, Square Enix plans to give away all thirteen of the stained glass works in the form of actual clocks.

Fans can take part of the contest by tweeting at the official Kingdom Hearts account with an image of their favorite piece from the website. Alternatively, those in Japan can tweet out a photo of the exhibit itself. Either way, fans must also make sure to mark their tweets with the hashtag “#キングダムハーツ15周年” if they want to try and win one of the clocks.

Square Enix also plans to have a visual memorial exhibition for the anniversary which will feature a mural containing the major characters from the series.

The purpose of this campaign is to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Kingdom Hearts franchise which first began in March of 2002. In addition to that, this campaign serves to promote Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, the next release in the series, which comes out in January 12 for Japan and January 24 for the rest of the world.
