Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was on top of the UK video game charts for well over 7 weeks across the Holiday season and beyond. However, now the game has been usurped by LEGO Marvel Avengers.
GFK Chart-Track UK reports that LEGO Marvel Avengers debuted at the number one position to become the 8th different LEGO video game to reach the top spot in the All Formats chart.
LEGO Marvel Avengers managed to sell better than LEGO Marvel Super Heroes back in 2013 as that game got outsold by Call of Duty: Ghosts. Now the tables have turned as the Marvel characters have ousted Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for the top spot. The game ends the 7th consecutive win streak for Black Ops 3.
Amazingly though, Black Ops 3 held the number two spot by actually increasing its sales by 54 percent compared to the prior week. GFK did not note a reason for the sudden increase in sales, but it could have been retail discounts for the game over in the UK.
Positions 3 to 7 were held by FIFA 16, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Star Wars Battlefront, Grand Theft Auto V and Just Cause 3 respectively.
Number 8 was occupied surprisingly by Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The reason for its big jump in sales is thanks to several retail promotions. The number 9 and 10 spots belonged to Fallout 4 and Resident Evil Origins Collection respectively.
