Executive Producer, Tomasz Gop, has made the decision to step down from Lords of the Fallen 2, with the game shifting focus on building its narrative. Gop announced his leave on Facebook this morning, and the news about the sequel’s change came from a CI employer who said, “We’re grateful for his input, but we have different visions for further development of the series and Tomasz will not be a part of CI Games’ progress.”
The news broke during a news conference that was reported by Eurogamer Poland:
“We want to reach a wider audience for this game. That’s why we’re building a richer story. We’re aware that these aspects could’ve been better in first game, so the story is a big point of the sequel, along with robust fighting system. We want to bring something fresh to RPG games.”
Production on the sequel is set to begin in late 2015, with talents Jess Lebow (Guild Wars, Forgotten Realms) as head writer and Paul Robinson taking the lead as Creative Director. Lords of the Fallen released back in 2014 and was met with positive reviews, while Lords of the Fallen 2 is planned for a 2017 release date. Deck 13 will not be collaborating on the next entry as they begin development on a brand new IP rumored to be called Surge.
