It looks Marvel is brewing up a brand new game as it has partnered with Skydance New Media, the game development studio led by former Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig. On multiple occasions, Marvel has joined hands with various game development studios to flesh out new and unique games with familiar heroes.

The announcement came on Friday and as per Amy Hennig, they would be looking to “develop a narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game, featuring a completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe.” However, there was no mention of which Marvel characters would be featured in the game. Details about the release date or platforms for the in-progress project were also not disclosed. Regardless, a new Marvel game sounds appealing and it would be exciting to see what Marvel and Skydance New Media have to offer.

Skydance has talent that previously worked on the Uncharted series

This would be the first game by Skydance; however, with Hennig at the driving seat, the studio might pull it off. Before founding her own studio, Hennig was at EA, where she worked on a canceled Star Wars project and, has even been at Naughty Dog, where she led the development of the Uncharted series.

She further added, “I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game. The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”

The studio is actively hiring for new roles for the latest Marvel video game and is looking for a team of developers with decades of AAA knowledge in the action and adventure gaming worlds. Skydance even has a vibrant group of creative consultants from the worlds of film, television and comics. Apart from this, not much is known about either the game or its development stages. But seeing that the announcement is pretty fresh, the new Marvel game might still be very early in its development cycle.

Marvel comics have a very rich lineup of characters with endless possibilities of things to do giving Skydance New Media some leeway and let them mix and match different items. Skydance can ponder over a Fantastic Four game for their upcoming Marvel game featuring Silver Surfer and some other characters. Insomniac Studios is currently working on a brand new Marvel game from the ground up called Marvel’s Wolverine. At the same time, the Spiderman PS4 game is getting a sequel and will arrive sometime in 2023, which will bring Venom into the mix.
