Nintendo chose to partner with four separate retailers for exclusive amiibo for this third wave and so far we’ve seen the release of Lucario and Rosalina. That still leaves the GameStop exclusive Shulk and Best Buy exclusive Meta Knight to arrive. The arrival and actual street dates have not been announced for either yet, but it sounds like Meta Knight should be coming relatively soon.
Coming from a verified Best Buy employee on Reddit, it appears that the much sought after Meta Knight amiibo is finally making its way to at least some Best Buy stores. Specifically, this employee has provided a screencap of the computer itself with an incoming shipment from Nintendo that is scheduled to arrive today, February 4.
The other piece of interesting info is that it also shows that Sonic is included, so we could see those two go on sale at the same time. However, at this point, there is absolutely no release date in the system for either, as Meta Knight himself shows a release date of 12/31/2015 to avoid him being sold early.
Hopefully this means that a set date will be announced, similar to Target’s Rosalina release, so that fans that really want him can have the opportunity to camp out for one. This would be much better than than someone just getting lucky with them being put on the shelves on a random day, as has happened with some other retailers.
The employee that provided the screencap says he plans on updating with more information later today when the shipment arrives, as it should specifically give more information on when it can be sold. He also warns that no one go stand in line this morning, as they will most certainly not be on sale yet. As a result, make sure to stay tuned for any updates regarding both Meta Knight and Sonic.
