Microsoft isn’t ready to start talking about the Xbox 720 just yet. Eventhough Nintendo may be going ahead with plans to usher in a new era, Microsoft has no plans in the near future to follow suit. This could be attributable to the great success the company is having commericially with the Xbox 360, six years into its life.

Another of the factors likely contributing to this reluctance to move forward, is the success that the Kinect motion controller has had since it launched last year.

“We’re really not talking about that, “Right now we’re incredibly excited about what’s going on with Xbox 360 and certainly Kinect, which is relatively new to the market, so we’re focussed on that.”- an investor relations manager for Microsoft recently stated.

“Consumers are delighted with Kinect, as well as our entire Xbox 360 platform, for the revolutionary experience it brings to their living room,””Kinect continues to lead the way forward in gaming.” Peter Klein announced at a recent earnings call for the company.

Microsoft has had 15 months of dominating the retail video games charts, and with their stock on the upswing, there’s no sign of an Xbox 720 on the horizon, at least for the short term.
