If you found yourself missing your top rival Nemesis and Follower from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, you’re in luck. With a free update called Nemesis Forge for Shadow of Mordor, players can have these orcs imported into the sequel.
The Nemesis system, which is returning in a greater capacity in Shadow of War, was a core feature in the upcoming game’s predecessor. This system dynamically created orcs in Sauron’s army that had their own unique names, strengths, and weaknesses. When one orc was defeated in battle, another would take its place, some even moving up within the ranks. If you ended up dying by an orc’s hand, they would then be promoted. In addition to these features, orcs could also remember previous encounters with the player. Needless to say, the Nemesis system was incredibly innovative, and the uniqueness of these encounters made them memorable as well.
The Nemesis Forge update is available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam for free. All players need to do to access it is launch Shadow of Mordor and select the Nemesis Forge game mode in the menu. Your highest ranking orc Nemesis and most loyal orc Follower will automatically be selected to join you in Shadow of War.
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is currently free to play for a limited time this weekend from July 6-9 on Xbox One and Steam. A promotion to purchase the game for 80% off is also running on those platforms and PlayStation 4.
