Minecraft developer investigating bringing PC textures to Xbox 360

It sounds like 4J Studios is looking into bringing PC Textures to Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. Just what that entails is anyone’s guess, but the company Twitter feed recently claimed that the Microsoft Legal team is looking into it.

“Microsoft legal is investigating PC texture packs on Xbox – seems more complicated than you’d think. We’re waiting to hear back from them.”

Does this mean that we’ll get some more realistic Minecraft mods like we see on the PC? Perhaps. 4J didn’t make it explicitly clear which textures packs they’d like to bring over to the Xbox version of the game.

The problem they’re likely running into is that most of these Minecraft PC texture packs are made by groups of individuals who may have a copyright claim on these mods for the game. Judging by the response of fans though, it’s something that they are interested in.
