A new Minecraft update is rolling out across all consoles today, bringing with it a number of fixes and changes throughout the game. However, the focus of this Minecraft update seems to be the new Battle Mode, which was added a few weeks ago. Along with adding in the second Minecraft Battle Mode Map Pack, this update addresses some problems that were left behind once the minigame launched.
The full patch notes can be seen here, but some highlights include, “Added Battle Map Pack 2 (Atlantis, Ruin and Siege). Added the Redstone Specialists Skin Pack. Made changes to some item textures in the City Texture Pack, Fantasy Texture Pack and Greek Mythology Mash-up Pack, so that they are more easily identifiable in Battle mini games.” Along with some minor touches like “Fix to allow renamed items to be traded with a Villager”.
That’s about it for the regular game, but the Battle Mode minigame saw a huge amount of changes, including ” Fix to display player names above crouching players when in Showdown mode in a Battle mini game. Fix to allow thrown potions to go through non-solid blocks (e.g. Vines, Tall Grass). Fix to stop non-solid blocks obstructing player attacks. Fixed a couple of holes in the Cove Battle mini game map. Fix to remove all Mob heads from the player’s inventory, except any that are currently being worn, when transitioning from the Lobby to a Battle mini game map.”
It seems like these fixes are universal across the many consoles that are home to Minecraft. PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Wii U should all see the update hit some time today.
