When Naughty Dog incorporated multiplayer into Uncharted 2 when the game released in 2009, many instantly fell in love with the third person cover mechanics of the game.  With Uncharted 3 due out later this year, Naughty Dog has made it clear that they want their new game to be the “go to” multiplayer experience on the PS3.  According to the latest issue of Game Pro via Scrawl, Naughty Dog has aknowledged some of the short-comings of their last attempt and blame some of them partly on not having enough time to develop the online modes fully.

This time around, Naughty Dog has had ample time to look at what competitors are doing and draw from their successes. The interview in Gamepro also details who Naughty Dog may be looking up to for inspiration, Ubisoft, for their work on Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, and Rockstar for their open worlded Red Dead Redemption.

No concrete details about the Uncharted 3 multiplayer experience have been released at this point, but it’s nice to know that Naughty Dog sees some of the pitfalls of Uncharted 2 and is working hard to improve upon them.
