Despite Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End being the finale to the critically-acclaimed Uncharted series, the series itself will be continuing for at least a little while longer thanks to DLC. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be launching later this year, which puts the focus on Chloe Frazer in a new adventure.
This DLC was recently revealed as the cover story for the April issue of Game Informer, and the publication spoke with several members of Naughty Dog about the series and what its future looks like. While Naughty Dog has said before that they won’t be making another game in the Uncharted series, the topic nonetheless came up again and this was their response:
“I would say that Naughty Dog doing an Uncharted after this is unlikely. I would never say never, but we’ve got The Last of Us Part II on our plates and there’s so much other stuff that [we want to explore]. It’d be hard. If we magically had that two-team, three-team studio, sure – it’d be great to keep doing it. We really love the franchise, but the studio has limited resources and lots of other ideas. I’d say the likelihood is low.”
While it’s a bummer that Nathan Drake’s adventures have come to an end, there’s no denying that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End was a fantastic way to conclude the series. The game offered more of the fantastic action set-pieces that fans had come to expect that were bigger than ever, while also delivering a very personal story that brought Drake’s own brother into the mix.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will hopefully bring more of the high quality that we’ve gotten from the main games when it launches later this year on PlayStation 4, but we still have no release date for it. We do know that it is a standalone release, so those who don’t own Uncharted 4 will be able to play it with no problems.
