2K Sports has recently announced that NBA 2K14 will arrive on current and next-generation consoles later this year. Gracing the cover will be Miami Heat forward, LeBron James. The game will arrive on October 1st, and will do so on all available platforms, this includes the Xbox One and PS4.

According to a press release sent out by 2K, this next installment of the basketball franchise will both maximize the current-gen hardware of the Xbox 360 and PS3, but will offer a completely unique experience for those that pick up the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game.

“NBA 2K set the benchmark for sports gaming on the current-generation of consoles, and NBA 2K14 will continue that legacy on next-generation consoles. With two unique experiences that distinctly maximize the power of current and next-generation consoles, NBA 2K14 is basketball how and where our millions of fans want to play it.”

We’re still yet to see what NBA 2K14 actually looks like, or if there are any major changes underway for the franchise. 2K Sports will not be at E3 2013, but they could very well offer up a closer look at the new game during the show, which just so happens to correspond with the NBA Finals where the San Antonio Spurs are facing off against cover athlete LeBron James’ Miami Heat.
