NBA 2K18 may still be a number of months away, but the NBA itself is in the midst of the best time of year with the playoffs. Seeming like perfect timing as a result, 2K Sports released a video this morning to announce the cover star for the NBA 2K18 Legend Edition that has become a staple in recent years, this time with a new legend gracing the cover.
2K Sports made the announcement through a very funny video that had Shaquille O’Neal making the announcement himself that he would be on the cover of the Legend Edition of the game.
NBA 2K18 will come in three different versions. The first is the base game that is $59.99 and will have a yet to be revealed cover athlete that will likely be a current player.
The Legend Edition will feature Shaq on the cover from when he was with the Miami Heat and will cost $99.99. This edition will include the following digital items, 100,000 VC, 20 MyTEAM Packs featuring a guaranteed Shaq card, one random Team 2K Free Agent card, and more, Shaq Attaq shoes, Rookie Shaq jersey, Shaq Official Logo shirt, Shaq “nickname” jersey, and a Shaq Championship ring. In addition, you will get a few physical items as well, including a poster, 5 out of 10 possible Panini cards, and Shaq MyTEAM Stickers.
For those that want to shell out for the best edition, that will be the Legend Edition Gold that is exclusive to GameStop for $149.99. The physical items included will be the same as the regular Legend Edition, except you get all 10 Panini cards and a lenticular as well. The digital side provides even more, which includes 250,000 VC, 40 MyTEAM Packs featuring a guaranteed Shaq card, one random Team 2K Free Agent card, and more, Shaq Attaq shoes, Rookie Shaq jersey, Shaq Official Logo shirt, Shaq “nickname” jersey, Shaq Championship ring, Mitchell & Ness Shaq jersey collection – 6 in total, and additional MyPLAYER apparel items.
NBA 2K18 in all three versions will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. If you pre-order now, you will get the game four days early, which according to GameStop’s website will be on September 15.
