The producer for the DOA series, Yosuke Hayashi, has confirmed that a new Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 beach volleyball game is in development.

Hayashi confirmed this during the Dead or Alive festival that is currently happening in Japan. He gave an update to the status of the new Dead or Alive Xtreme volleyball game.

A NeoGAF user translated Hayashi’s comments: “There is a game where female DOA characters are having a vacation at south island. Fans having been asking for that game. It is actually the number 1 request from the fans. I have been acting as if I was ignoring these requests. But we have actually begun developing that game, the latest installment. It’s still very early in development so we can’t give more details, but I want to announce today that we are making the game“.

There you have it DOA fans. Apparently more people want a new beach volleyball game from the series than Dead or Alive 6. You asked for it and now they are going through with it.

To be fair though, Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 came out way back in 2006 and was only an Xbox 360 exclusive. There was also a game released for the PSP only a few years ago too.

As Hayashi said, it’s still early in development so we won’t hear much details of the game anytime soon.

Update: It’s officially in development, but it is intended for Japanese and Asian markets only.
