Nintendo has now released a new 3DS system update earlier today. It is available now to download as the update was released as of January 18th, 2016.
The new Nintendo 3DS system update is version number 10.4.0-29U. The main changes that were described in the official website says: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”
In other words, it’s just another boring stability update that is always released. This is similar to the last PS4 update that came earlier this month. That too was just another stability update.
In saying that, many of the last updates for the 3DS were just to make the system more stable. The last update to come with any new features came out way back in March 2015. That update brought a new Home Menu layout and additional categories added to the Theme Shop.
It will be interesting to see how much longer Nintendo intends to support the 3DS console. The system still sells pretty well so it won’t be abandoned just yet. With rumors of the Nintendo NX being a hybrid home/portable system, this might impact on the sales of the 3DS going forward though.
